Antique 18th Century Engraved Horn and Brass Cigarette Box
Presented is an antique cigarette box from the 18th century made of semi-opaque amber-colored horn. The box is engraved with a festoon of musical instruments, music sheets and a spray of flowers on the cover, surrounded by a fine border of inlay. There is a long, riveted brass hinge along the back of the box.
There are no maker's marks on the piece.
The condition of the box is good for its age. The hinge works well but the top bows slightly upward at the back corners, as you can see in our photos.
